FitzRoy are recruiting Female Support Workers to join our Supported Living service in Abingdon, where you will be supporting two adults with learning disabilities, autism and mental health needs.

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone experienced in supporting individuals who may display behaviours that challenge, with a strong focus on delivering person-centred, trauma-informed care.

About You

We’re looking for experienced Support Workers or Healthcare Assistants who can demonstrate best practice when supporting people with:

  • Autism
  • Mental health needs
  • Acquired brain injury
  • Learning disabilities
  • Trauma-related support needs

You will need to be confident, adaptable, and able to provide flexible support that evolves alongside the needs of the people we support.

A full UK manual driving licence is essential for day shifts, as you will support individuals to access activities in the community.

👉 Due to the needs of the people we support, this role is open to female applicants only (exempt under the Equality Act 2010, Schedule 9, Part 1).

Vacancies Available

  • Full-time positions
  • Day shifts only
    • £14.06 per hour (weekdays)
    • +10% weekend enhancement
  • Overtime rates (over 37.5 hours per week)
    • Time and a half or double time on public holidays
  • Sleep-ins: £50.00 per night
  • Annual leave: 30 days from your first day

What You Will Be Doing

As a Support Worker, no two days are the same. You will:

  • Provide person-centred support tailored to individual needs
  • Support a wide range of activities such as shopping, crafts, bowling and swimming
  • Encourage and assist with personal care (e.g. showers and bathing)
  • Deliver flexible, responsive support — including creative approaches if someone is reluctant to engage
  • Work in line with Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) plans
  • Receive and apply person-specific training to support complex needs

There is a strong emphasis on autism and mental health support, so experience and confidence in these areas is essential.

Shift Pattern

  • Day shifts:
    • 07:00 – 14:30
    • 14:30 – 22:00

Weekend working is required on a rotational basis, with time off in the week when you work a weekend.
