Support Worker – Female Only

Location: Great Barton
Hours: Full Time – 37.5 hours per week
Pay: £13.00 per hour
Requirement: Full UK Driving Licence (Manual)

About the Role

We are looking for compassionate, flexible and committed female Support Workers to join our team in Great Barton, supporting four young women with high support needs in a beautiful four‑bedroom bungalow.

The women we support live active, fulfilling lives and enjoy getting out and about — from cinema trips and zoo visits to meals out and community activities. Each person has access to their own manual vehicle, so driving is an essential part of the role, both for commuting and supporting day‑to‑day independence.

Your Day‑to‑Day

As a Support Worker, you will provide person‑centred, empowering support, helping each individual live as independently as possible while remaining safe, supported and respected. Your role will include:

  • Supporting with personal care routines in a dignified and sensitive way
  • Administering insulin (full training provided)
  • Supporting meaningful activities and community outings
  • Promoting independence, wellbeing and choice
  • Supporting with household tasks and daily living skills
  • Building positive, trusting relationships

No two days are the same — this is a varied, hands‑on role where you’ll clearly see the impact of your support.

Shift Patterns

  • Morning shifts: 07:00 – 14:30
  • Afternoon/Evening shifts: 14:00 – 22:00
  • Alternate weekends required

Flexibility is key to meet the needs of the service.

What You’ll Need

  • A genuine passion for supporting people with learning disabilities
  • Full UK driving licence (manual)
  • Confidence driving service users’ vehicles
  • Flexibility to work a range of shifts, including weekends
  • Female applicants only, in line with the needs and preferences of the people we support

Why Join Us?

  • £13.00 per hour
  • Full training and ongoing development
  • Supportive, welcoming team environment
  • A rewarding role where you can make a real and lasting difference
  • The opportunity to support people to live full, active lives

“It’s hard to put into words what has motivated me to stay at FitzRoy for 50 years. I love working with the people we support, it really is all down to them. The connection you make with them and the difference you are making is the real delight of the job.”

“You don’t become a support worker unless you want to help people and make a difference to someone’s life. That’s what made me want to do this job – I have always been a caring person and I wanted to help give people with learning disabilities a voice.”

“FitzRoy is such an incredible place to work, everyone really cares about the people we support. I am genuinely passionate about improving their quality of life, and when you see the people we support achieving a goal I feel immense job satisfaction.”
